ART INSTRUCTOR:

Anna McNamee is a part-time Visual Arts Educator for lower elementary classes through the adolescent class. She joined Hillside Montessori in the fall of 2022. Anna is local to Troup County, having grown up in Hogansville and attended school in LaGrange at West Side Magnet School for the Arts. After graduating from Callaway High School in 2011, Anna attended the University of Georgia, where she studied Drawing and Painting. In 2013, Anna transferred to LaGrange College, where she studied theatre, music, and music composition. Upon graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music, Anna went right back to LaGrange College to earn her master’s degree, while working as a graduate assistant for the office of Global Engagement.

While in graduate school, Anna also welcomed her son Emmett into the world, and shortly after, began teaching public school in Troup County. She graduated again from LaGrange College in 2018 with a Master’s degree in the Art of Teaching.

After deciding to leave the public-school classroom, Anna went on to pursue teaching in other forms. In August of 2021, Anna joined Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and became an instructor aboard the West Point Lake Floating Classroom. Anna teaches students about the history of our watershed, the importance of clean water, and the role each of us has in caring for our environment. Aboard the Floating Classroom is where Anna first met some of the Hillside Montessori students and guides!

In the spring of 2023, Anna became the Coordinator of the West Point Lake Floating Classroom and is looking forward to learning and growing with Hillside Montessori students in both of her floating and non-floating classrooms this year.
