Prospective Families

At Hillside Montessori of LaGrange, we believe that the ideal learning environment must include a diverse student population.  We welcome children from all racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Admissions decisions are made by the school director and teaching staff and are based on an evaluation of the child’s visit, school transcripts, and the needs of the existing classes with regard to a balance of age, gender, and ethnic diversity. Priority is given to returning students, siblings, and children with previous Montessori experience.

We invite prospective families to attend one of our open houses, complete a Student Application, and pay the nonrefundable application fee of $20 to begin the application process. We will begin processing new student applications after February 12, 2017.

After the child visit and interview are completed, the school director will notify applicants of enrollment decisions by telephone. Enrollment contracts are extended through the mail or by pick up, and must be returned along with a non-refundable $250 deposit to secure a spot for your child.

A summary of steps for those seeking admission:

  • Attend an open house or information session
  • Complete a Student Application and Background Form
  • Schedule a parent meeting with the school director
  • Schedule a time for your child to visit the classroom
  • Submit a Transcript Request form

Re-Enrollment

Returning families are granted placement priority. Families seeking re-enrollment should first review and return their child(ren)’s mid-year evaluation and/or participate in a parent-teacher conference. Re-enrollment contracts are sent home to families mid-January and should be returned by February 17th, along with the $250 re-enrollment fee, in order to guarantee placement for the following academic year. Families must be current on all tuition and early stay/ extended day accounts in order to re-enroll.

Tuition

It is our goal at Hillside Montessori of LaGrange to provide families with an exceptional learning environment staffed with well-trained, highly-qualified teachers. As a private educational institution, receiving no state or federal funding, we rely on tuition as our main source of income. A not-for-profit institution, we seek a balance between our educational mission and financial stability, and so each year we carefully consider our projected annual budget when determining tuition costs. Tuition for 2018-2019 will be $6,300.

Discounts

There is a 5% discount for paying the annual tuition in full at the beginning of the fiscal year (June 1st).

There is a 5% discount for a second sibling, a 10% discount for a third sibling, and a 15% discount for a 4th sibling.

Financial Aid

There are funds available for those in need of tuition assistance. Applications must be completed in full and returned along with documentation of family income. The due date for first consideration is March 15th.  All applications are reviewed by a third party who makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. Scholarship awards are based on family need and applications must be re-submitted annually. If seeking financial aid, please request a form at the beginning of the re-enrollment process.

Parent Involvement

Hillside Montessori partners with families to provide children with enriching personal growth and educational experiences. We welcome and encourage parents to participate in the many opportunities we offer for family involvement at our school. We believe that “it takes a village to raise a child”, and our inclusive attitude toward our families reflects our belief that together we help mold and shape the character of our children. Some of the many ways parents can be involved at Hillside Montessori include: providing field trip transportation, participating in family night events, assisting with PTO fundraisers and activities, reading or cooking with students, visiting the school as a guest teacher, etc. As a small school, parental involvement helps us to thrive. Most importantly, though, it lets your child know that his/her education matters to you. For these reasons, parental involvement is a requirement for all parents of students at Hillside Montessori. We do understand that parents must consider their work schedules and other commitments, so we offer a variety of volunteer choices.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Hillside Montessori admits all students of any color, creed, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.

Our Mission

Hillside Montessori of LaGrange, Inc provides a nurturing environment in which children are encouraged to develop their intrinsic desire to explore and learn. We are driven to help children reach their fullest potential by cultivating independence, compassion, and integrity so they may contribute meaningfully to their community and world.
